The Program Development department’s Assistant will support the overall development process through the entire creative cycle. He/she will be the primary assistant to the SVP of Program Development.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Manage the program submissions process and submissions portal.
Maintain a web-based submissions and program database (Salesforce platform) to track all potential and contracted programs.
Research production companies and reviewing pitch documents and screeners.
Schedule and prepare materials for regular development meetings.
Communicate with external producers and follow-up on material requests.
Liaise with Smithsonian Enterprises staff for factual and reputational review process.
Manage the schedule of the SVP, Program Development, including scheduling upcoming pitch meetings and conferences, booking travel, etc.
Performing general office administrative work such as fielding calls and emails, filing, setting up conference room a/v, and organizing conference calls.
Tracking dozens of projects at once and helping to direct the team to manage deadlines.
A minimum of Bachelors degree required, with preference given to candidates with a minimum one-year television experience.
Qualified candidates must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and have an interest in non-fiction programming.
Strong administrative and organizational skills—including ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects, with daily tracking and regular follow-up—are must haves.
This position will require the ability to learn and adapt quickly, and to work in a self-directed team environment.
This position will require the ability to transition efficiently between administrative tasks and projects that require more creative or analytical thinking.
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is a must.
Experience with database systems and data management preferred.
