The Digital Media Producer will post 5-15 stories and videos each day on CBSSanFrancisco.com, and be responsible for the social media promotion of all of them. The position involves fast-paced storytelling across both radio, TV, and digital. You have to know when you’ve got gold from TV, when a radio report will go viral if you can just get one photo from the scene, and when you can take something from radio and turn it into video to get the higher CPM on the pre-roll. A sense of what will do well and what’s not worth your time is absolutely required, along with the diplomatic skills to explain that decision to someone who wants to know why their video isn’t posted.
The ideal candidate has a background in news, meticulous yet speedy copy editing skills, demonstrated social media experience on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram; strong writing for terse wire copy and longer commentaries, satire and columns; and proven excellence in promotable SEO-friendly headlines.
Minimum two years’ prior experience in an online, newspaper, television or radio newsroom is required.
B.S. or B.A. in Journalism or similar field required.
Knowledge of AP style required.
Video and audio editing experience required.
Position is an evening Sunday-Thursday shift.
