The Data technology team is an agile and dynamic group who is passionate about developing reliable data platform to facilitate internal groups to process data more efficiently. Our team collaborates across number of business units to design and implement reusable frameworks for different data teams. We use Google Cloud Platform to process large volumes of data from multiple vendors enabling our BI, Yield, Finance and marketings teams to focus on data-driven insights.
The Data Engineer possesses a deep sense of curiosity, a passion for building smarter products based on data, and the ability to communicate data structures and tools throughout the CBS Interactive organization. Working backward from analytical and experimental requirements to devise data and BI solutions, this engineer supports data pipeline development which includes machine learning algorithms using disparate data sources. The ideal candidate will also work closely with the wider data, engineering, and product teams cross-functionally to implement data-driven plans that drive our business.
Works with large volumes of traffic data and user behaviors to build pipelines that enhance raw data
Able to break down and communicate highly complex data problems into simple, feasible solutions
Extract patterns from a large datasets and transform data into an informational advantage
Find answers to business questions via hands-on exploration of data sets via SQL, dashboards, statistical analysis, and data visualizations
Quality control and alerting systems for core site KPIs
Data reporting and forecasting of key revenue systems, including ad exchanges, electronic sell through and streaming / subscription products
Creating statistics / machine learning models for revenue optimization
Building 3rd party system integrations and custom data pipelines
What you bring to the team:
You have -
At a minimum a BS or BA, preferably in a quantitative field
Proficient in Python. You’ll use this about every day.
Able to write SQL to perform common types of analysis.
Experience with exploratory data analysis using tools like iPython Notebook, Pandas & matplotlib, etc.
Experience with a Python web framework such as Django or Flask.
You may also have-
Familiar with D3 and creating web-based interactive visualizations
Familiar with a NoSQL database such as MongoDB
Familiar with version control systems (we use Git and Bitbucket)
Can perform statistical analysis using tools such as R, Numpy/SciPy with Python
Experience building and deploying the application on a cloud platform (Google Cloud Platform preferred)
