DESCRIPTION:

The Vice President of Special Markets will manage a team of sales specialists that will work across all Simon & Schuster divisions - Adult, Children’s, Audio as well as our distribution client publishers - to maximize sales opportunities and secure the best exposure for our content in these markets. The Special Markets channel includes premium, mail order, retail, wholesale and custom publishing. The VP will work to maximize our revenue with existing accounts and expand into new areas using physical and digital content channels solidifying our existing relationships in these accounts as well as developing new partnerships, expanding into new markets, and creating new revenue streams.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for overseeing and growing our Specialty Retail Sales including all Special Markets National Accounts, the Gift/Commission Special Markets, the Christian Books National Accounts, the Premium and Corporate Sales, and Specialty Telesales.

  • Develop new business in the channel across all markets

  • Manage a group of Special Sales professionals

  • Provide guidance to publishing partners to maximize revenue in this channel

  • Provide customer service for accounts including guidance on inventory, pricing, and content curation

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have experience managing sales professionals and accounts.

  • Should be capable of developing a strategic vision for growth of the channel with a strong of process development and tactical management to realize a strategic vision.

  • Proven leadership success and the ability to develop a team. Must be a strong team player

  • Must be comfortable in a fast-paced sales department

  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.

  • The candidate must be agile and excellent at prioritizing competing demands internally and externally.

  • Superior analytical skills Proficiency in MS Word, Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint and have strong analytical skills and comfort working with numbers

  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills are a must

  • Ability to communicate and interact professionally with accounts, clients, and staff

  • Must be able to travel domestically as attendance at trade shows nationwide will be required as well as for business meetings.
