Smithsonian Channel is a joint venture between Showtime Networks and the Smithsonian Institution. Our awe-inspiring programs, powerful documentaries and entertaining factual stories shine new light on popular genres such as air and space, history, science, nature, travel and pop culture. From legacy series such as Aerial America, Million Dollar American Princesses and Air Disasters to recent hits like America in Color, The Lost Tapes and The Coronation, our award-winning programming is available across multiple platforms in HD and 4K Ultra HD. The Channel is also available internationally in Canada, Singapore and Latin America, with more international launches to come in 2019. We currently have offices in New York City and Washington, DC.

DESCRIPTION:

The Consumer Marketing team is responsible for advertising, branding, creative (print, video, online, etc) and International marketing. We are searching for a Marketing Coordinator to help us with our day-to-day functions, including asset management, on-air promotions, advertising campaigns, marketing presentations and other tasks as assigned. On our team, you’ll have the opportunity to work in a supportive environment with detail-oriented people who are passionate about TV.

ASSET MANAGEMENT

  • Track, organize and distribute (internally and externally) promotional assets

  • Coordinate between multiple teams to fulfill marketing requests and needs

CREATIVE

  • Route materials (print, on-air, online, etc) for creative and legal feedback

  • Provide quality control for tactics before delivery, ensuring accuracy and on-time delivery

  • Fact-check program descriptions

  • Assist in the development of campaign launch documents

OTHER

  • Track competitive marketing efforts

  • Perform weekly checks of electronic program guides to ensure accuracy

  • Assist with marketing recap decks

  • General administrative support, including scheduling and setting up meetings, taking and distributing meeting notes, and other tasks as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 1-2 years of relevant experience

  • Agency or network experience a plus

  • Self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal skills and ability to follow up

  • Strong ability to juggle multiple projects on multiple timelines

  • Detail-oriented and extremely organized

  • Must have the ability to work independently, efficiently and reliably and be able to meet deadlines

  • Knows how to proactively manage calendars and competing priorities

  • Proactive, clear, and concise communicator (both verbal and written); strong proofreading abilities

  • Standard computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Keynote is a plus) as well as ability to learn new programs.
