Role Details:

CBS Sports is seeking a talented Product Design Manager. Someone who is excited about designing cross-platform experiences with immense visibility for millions of passionate sports fans. We are presently at a formative period of innovation, pushing into new markets, extending our digital streams, experimenting with AR and redefining world-class sports fan experiences.

You leverage qualitative consumer insights (ethnographic, usability) and quantitative (analytics, a/b testing) data to inform everything you or your team touches. The Team

CBS Sports has a nimble creative design team distributed across NYC, Kansas City, Cameron Park, Nashville, and Fort Lauderdale. We span multiple brands under the CBS Sports umbrella including Max Preps, 24/7 Sports, Sportsline, Sports HQ & Fantasy. We believe in strong design systems and continually iterate our collective design DNA. User research is at the center of everything we push and work tirelessly to continually improve our understanding of our users.

Sport is entertaining, passionate, fun and exciting. We try to emulate the same experience in our office culture. We believe designers have a core seat at the table and carve out time each week for innovation/self-led design projects.

Your Day-to-Day:

  • Collaborate and iterate with product and engineering to find elegant but practical solutions to design challenges and user needs

  • Work closely with the design director around major design initiatives.

  • Manage product designers, freelancers and/or interns

  • Rapidly produce multiple solutions, from sketches, wireframes, and user flows to high-fidelity mockups and prototypes, depending on the level of detail needed to present and communicate proposed solutions and interaction flows that will resonate with our target audience.

  • Conduct user tests, research, and experiments to capture and understand real users’ motivations, goals, and pain points.

  • Present your work to various stakeholders, explaining your creative process and how your final design aligns with the business goals.

  • Manage design systems and guidelines to ensure continuity, consistency and brand cohesion across multiple platforms and touch points

  • Build and nurture strong relationships with your stakeholders and business partners.

QUALIFICATIONS:

What you bring to the team:

You have -

  • 7+ years of product design experience working on consumer-facing mobile and web experiences.

  • 2+ years of experience managing interaction and visual designers. A strong passion for mentoring and growing the potential of others.

  • Excellent communication skills - able to influence and build consensus across all disciplines and levels.

  • A creative portfolio of previous design work, demonstrating empathy for users.

  • Strong beliefs, loosely held; with a willingness to defend your design decisions yet also have your opinion changed.

  • Strong visual design sense, clean command over interaction design, typography and usability.

  • Vast experience collaborating, iterating, and testing with Product / Engineering to discover solutions that exceed user expectations.

You might also have -

  • Experience with data visualization

  • Motion graphics experience
