DESCRIPTION:

The CBS News Financial Analyst, Hard News will report into the Assistant Controller.

  • Assist with the monthly close process by preparing journal entries and organizing supporting documents

  • Collaborate with the Hard News team on the monthly forecast and assist in development and preparation of the budget and long range financial plan

  • Assist in preparation of monthly budget performance reports for Hard News departments and broadcasts

  • Assist with the Weekly Bureau cost accounting and management

  • Prepare general ledger account analysis

  • Prepare tax equalization schedules for the foreign bureaus

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience with news coverage, cost accounting and/or financial planning

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting required

  • Strong PC skills with excellent competence in the use of MS Office, including Excel and PowerPoint

  • Ability to work in a team environment while working independently on multiple tasks

  • Team work; ability to thrive in a team environment while working independently

  • Intellectual curiosity, desire to learn about all aspects of hard news finance
