DESCRIPTION:

Division Overview:

CBSN Originals is looking for an Assistant Editor for our premium documentary series. We’re looking for a technically savvy and proactive assistant editor to support the Originals team in Post Production. The Assistant Editor’s main responsibility is media management, which includes media ingestion, organization on the servers, and archiving. This position will also set up all projects for the editors, provide editorial support when needed, export finished shows, clips, teasers, and promos, and handle day to day needs, like troubleshooting technical issues.

Your Day-to-Day:

  • Large scale media management, which includes media ingestion, organization and archiving.

  • Putting field footage on shared drive and sending clips out for transcripts

  • Create projects with Adobe Premiere and provide editorial support, including string-outs for producers and editor and in some cases editing content.

  • Troubleshoot technical issues.

  • Exporting all deliverables for documentary distribution across all departments and platforms.

QUALIFICATIONS:

What you bring to the team:

You have -

  • 1-3 years experience working as an Assistant Editor for a production company that produces television series and/or documentaries.

  • Experience using the Adobe suite, especially Adobe Premiere. Working knowledge of After Effects and Photoshop preferred.

  • Ability to successfully perform in a high-pressured deadline oriented environment.

  • Proactive-thinker: engages others on the team to flag issues and offers creative solutions.

  • Ability to independently pace and prioritize workload while working on more than one project simultaneously and meeting deadlines.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work well with people in high-pressure situations.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Fundamental technical skills, with ability to troubleshoot and fix basic problems with edit systems.

You might also have -

  • Working knowledge of After Effects and Photoshop a plus.
