DESCRIPTION:

Role Details:

CNET is seeking a full-time technology journalist who will write news and features, host videos and publish stories across multiple platforms and in various formats. The role demands attention to detail, a passion for storytelling, and a sincere curiosity about technology and innovation.

Your Day-to-Day:

  • Write and publish stories under deadline

  • Appear on camera to create unique video stories

  • Scan news releases and social media to find daily stories relevant to the smart home

  • Take on assignments including features, commentary, lists, how-to, reviews and other stories

  • Develop industry-leading sources with executives and leaders in consumer technology

  • Write great headlines and descriptions

  • Use analytics and other tools to track and optimize story performance

  • Use social media to help build audience and develop community

  • Represent CNET at conferences, product launches, and industry events

  • Appear in CNET videos; make appearances in the media as a subject matter expert

Key Projects:

  • Bring multimedia storytelling to important topics in CNET's smart home category.

  • Develop feature stories that provide deeper value to readers, demonstrate the brand's authority and help consumers make decisions about the products they buy and how they use them.

  • Provide original reporting, breaking stories and journalistic excellence worthy of winning awards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

What you bring to the team:

You have -

  • 2+ years of digital journalism experience, including on-camera experience

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a technology field

  • High standards of quality and journalistic integrity

  • Ability to write clean copy, write quickly, and show solid judgement in selecting stories

  • Exhibit bold storytelling that engages the audience and increases visitors

  • Experience covering technology, startups, innovation, or related topics

  • Must be able to work in fast-paced environment and deal with daily deadlines

  • Must be adaptable and flexible; priorities change rapidly and regularly

  • Must be trustworthy, committed, considerate, and a good listener; high emotional IQ

You might also have:

  • Experience as a vlogger, podcaster, and/or YouTube personality

  • An established presence on social media

  • Experience as a guest in the media and on podcasts talking about technology

  • Ability to shoot and edit video
