DESCRIPTION:

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

  • To help create a morning news, multi-platform experience for the CBS Chicago audience. The Social Media Producer will develop and execute daily social media campaigns to engage people in our morning show content before, during and after the broadcast and help set the agenda for the news day ahead.

PRIMARY ACOUNTABILITIES

  • Work with Director of Content and broadcast Executive Producers on daily plan of action to promote on-air content on social and digital platforms leading up to our morning newscast

  • Work with show producers to curate and showcase user-generated content and feedback on important stories during the morning newscast

  • Develop daily plan of action for maximizing the reach and engagement of on-air content across social and digital platforms after the morning newscast ends

  • Analyze social media data in real time to make content selection and distribution choices

  • Edit and post social media videos in a format that’s customized for each social platform

  • Write video headlines and captions with SEO in mind

  • Monitor and engage in social media conversations around morning newscast content

  • Work with key on-air talent to help execute their individual social media strategies

QUALIFICATIONS:

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field

  • Experience with non-linear editing software

  • Experience with Adobe Premiere or other motion graphics software

  • At least two years’ experience as a television line producer preferred

  • Demonstrated experience using social media platforms and analytics
