Brand/Division Overview:

Entertainment Tonight is launching an interactive streaming news network delivering celebrity, pop culture and lifestyle content and premium video. It will be available live and on-demand 24/7 via our app, on OTT, desktop, mobile and across social platforms. We strive to have our original reporting and exclusive access drive the conversation.

Role Details:

We’re looking for a skilled and resourceful Director of Production to take a leadership role in building a pioneering new digital network. The right candidate will work with the Executive Producer to construct a technical operation and develop a staff. While our initial focus will be on preparing for launch, the greater mission is to embrace new technologies and constantly evolve our systems, structures and workflows to optimize content and distribution. This position also involves managing our edit team; duties range from original development and content quality to practical troubleshooting and scheduling. The right candidate needs to have deep technical knowledge, a strong creative flair and be accustomed to the pace of news production.

Your Day-to-Day:


Manage the build-out of all technical systems, including the Control Room, Edit, Graphics, Master Control and Distribution platforms


Assist in recruiting and developing a technical staff


Optimize all production/distribution workflows and streamline connections between systems


Lead and evolve the editorial style of video operations, incl. new formats for social media


Enforce production standards; QC with constructive criticism to mentor staff


Supervise field operations including Special Events


Assign and track the distribution of equipment


Oversee production coordination, including scheduling, budgeting & accounting

QUALIFICATIONS:

What you bring to the team


10+ years production experience, including project management and post-production


Deep knowledge of broadcast/digital media systems and workflows, including studio operations


Experience planning field shoots/off-site remotes and managing crews


Extensive background in Media Composer in Interplay environment, including Avid Archive & Restore


Familiarity with iNews/Media Central or other rundown system


Experience scheduling and budgeting


Capacity to give direct, constructive feedback to help develop a staff


Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed, including event coverage


Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

You might also have -


History of digital production, including producing content in different ways for different platforms


Experience with video playout systems such as Crispin or Grass Valley K2


Knowledge of transmission/Master Control operations


Familiarity with IT systems, including networking concepts and language


Proficiency with graphic systems or camera/audio expertise
