Responsibilities include serving as Technical Director on standby for breaking news ready to go on the air for Special Reports, and relief coverage for CBS News broadcasts when other Technical Directors are absent. Position has technical responsibility for show switching and graphics, video experience with graphic design and knowledge of video and audio signal specifications. Some familiarity with networking and computer applications are a plus. Manage crews and work with Technical Managers and Directors to meet the needs of the broadcasts. Learn the technical systems and workflow for the News control rooms and studios and ensure that systems work properly. Work with managers and engineering staff on capital project installations, checking proof of performance of new equipment and systems operationally. Works with Maintenance to troubleshoot and test equipment and systems. This position is in the NY Broadcast Center and is covered by the IBEW Local 1212 union.
Education: College graduate with a BA or BS degree or degree in Television production.
Experience: At least 5-10 years of experience as a Technical Director preferred. Live and taped broadcast experience, graphic production and graphic device operation.
