Role Details:

We are seeking an experienced Sr. Android Engineer who will lead the development of the 247 Sports App and contribute to the CBS Sports App, both part of CBS Sports Digital. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience as an Android developer, knowing the ins-and-outs of the Android Framework, having written production apps from scratch and taking over existing ones.

Your Day-to-Day:

  • Responsible for development and contributing to significant parts of codebase for a high profile, high customer volume app

  • Contribute to the technical foundation, user experience and feature set of both the 247 Sports App, and the CBS Sports App

Key Projects:

  • Launch the 247 Sports Android App

  • Implement native app Message Board Functionality

  • Implement subscription billing

  • Componentize 247 Sports and CBS Sports App into libraries


What you bring to the team:

You have--

  • At least 4 years experience writing high-profile Android apps

  • Extremely thorough knowledge of the Android programming environment.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field

  • Sound programming fundamentals: experience working with memory management, thread synchronization, and event-based programming issues; utilization of sound engineering principles in writing code.

  • Experience working with a distributed team. Our cross-functional engineers are based in Kansas City, Nashville, and Sydney, Australia. Your direct team will be in Kansas City.

  • Ability to integrate third-party APIs and tools such as Video players, Subscription services etc.

  • Very strong interpersonal skills; must be able to demonstrate an ability to work well with other non-technical members of the development team.

  • Superior knowledge of the Agile approach to working

  • Ability to provide cost estimates for the design and develop phase in partnership with internal stakeholders

  • Built high-level user interfaces using rapid prototyping methodologies

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as interpersonal skills

  • A passion for sports

  • Bonus if you have existing public libraries and code on Github
